Hara Bhara Kabab Recipe | Crispy & Healthy Indian Veg Starter

Introduction:

Hara Bhara Kabab is a delicious and healthy vegetarian snack made with fresh spinach, green peas, and mashed potatoes. Its name comes from the vibrant green color (“hara bhara” means “full of greens” in Hindi). These kababs are crispy on the outside, soft inside, and packed with nutrients — making them perfect for tea-time, parties, or as a healthy evening snack.

Ingredients:

• 1 cup spinach (blanched & chopped)

• ½ cup green peas (boiled)

• 2 medium potatoes (boiled & mashed)

• 2 green chilies (finely chopped)

• 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

• ½ tsp garam masala

• ½ tsp chaat masala

• ½ tsp cumin powder

• 2 tbsp cornflour (for binding)

• Salt to taste

• Oil for shallow frying

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Spinach & Peas:

• Blanch spinach leaves in hot water for 2 minutes, then drain and chop finely.

• Boil green peas until soft, then mash lightly.

2. Make the Mixture:

• In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, spinach, green peas, green chilies, and ginger-garlic paste.

• Add garam masala, chaat masala, cumin powder, salt, and cornflour.

• Mix well to form a smooth dough-like mixture.

3. Shape the Kababs:

• Divide the mixture into small portions and shape them into flat round patties.

4. Cook the Kababs:

• Heat oil in a pan for shallow frying.

• Fry the kababs on medium flame until golden brown and crispy from both sides.

5. Serve:

• Serve hot with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or ketchup.

Tips for Perfect Hara Bhara Kabab:

• Do not over-boil spinach, as it will lose its vibrant green color.

• Add breadcrumbs instead of cornflour for extra crispiness.

• You can also air-fry or bake for a healthier version.

Conclusion:

Hara Bhara Kabab is not only tasty but also a great way to include greens in your diet. Whether it’s a party starter or an evening snack, this kabab will be a hit every time! Try this recipe at home and enjoy the perfect blend of health and taste.
