Chicken Korma Recipe – Authentic & Creamy Indian Chicken Curry
Chicken Korma is one of the most loved dishes in Indian cuisine, known for its rich, creamy texture and delicate flavor. This royal Mughlai dish is made by slow-cooking chicken in a luscious gravy made from yogurt, cream, nuts, and aromatic spices. Unlike other spicy curries, Chicken Korma has a mild, balanced taste, making it a perfect option for family dinners, festive occasions, or even weekend treats.
In this blog, I will share an easy Chicken Korma recipe that you can try at home. With simple ingredients and clear steps, you can create a restaurant-style dish right in your kitchen.
Ingredients:
• 500g chicken (bone-in or boneless, cut into pieces)
• 2 onions (sliced)
• 1 cup yogurt (whisked)
• ¼ cup fresh cream
• 2 tbsp ghee or oil
• 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
• 1 tsp turmeric powder
• 1 tsp coriander powder
• 1 tsp garam masala
• 1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
• 10-12 cashews or almonds (soaked & ground to paste)
• 1 bay leaf
• 3-4 cardamoms, 1 cinnamon stick, 3-4 cloves
• Salt to taste
Method:
1. Heat ghee in a pan and fry onions until golden brown. Remove and grind them into a paste.
2. In the same pan, add whole spices (bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves) and sauté for a few seconds.
3. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry until aromatic.
4. Add chicken pieces and sauté until they turn white.
5. Mix in onion paste, turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
6. Add yogurt gradually while stirring to prevent curdling.
7. Stir in cashew paste, cover, and cook until chicken is tender.
8. Add cream and garam masala, simmer for 2-3 minutes for a creamy finish.
9. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.
